Be Different: Join the Alliance or Make a Donation


Membership in the Alliance is open to any association, community charity, corporation, professional body, government agency or individual that is committed to improving provincial, regional and local mental health and addiction services.  There are four forms of membership, each with corresponding criteria:

Active Members

  • A formal organization committed to the goals of the Alliance
  • Representing a province wide or significant regional mandate or constituency
  • Willing to send a delegate to monthly meetings and to cover costs
  • Able to participate in determining policies and procedures
  • Entitled to vote on all matters
  • Able to actively participate in ongoing work
  • Willing to make an annual monetary contribution (See below)

Associate members

  • A formal organization committed to the goals of the Alliance
  • Representing a regional or local mandate or constituency
  • Able to provide moral support and allow use of name
  • Able to participate in discussing policies, but has no vote entitlement
  • May make a monetary contribution

Advisory members

  • An individual or informal group committed to the goals of the Alliance
  • Have a history of knowledge and commitment to the mission
  • May participate in discussing  policies, but has no vote entitlement
  • May make a monetary contribution

Sustaining members

  • An organization or individual with a desire to advance the goals of the Alliance through a monetary contribution, but with no direct involvement.

MEMBERSHIP PROCESS

Organizations or individuals wishing to have membership in the Alliance may make application through the Chair or through any member organization, stipulating the form of membership. Entrance is granted by group consensus.

MONETARY CONTRIBUTIONS

There is no formal membership fee, however members are asked to make an annual contribution prior to March 31st of each year. The following contribution ranges are suggested as a guideline.

  • Corporations or Government agencies - $600 - $1200
  • Professional Associations  - $500 - $1000
  • Non profit Associations – large - $500 - $1000
  • Non profit Associations or groups – small - $100 - $200
  • Individuals - $50

In addition, Active members are asked to report the monetary value of “gifts in kind” such as travel, accommodation, supplies, services etc.

Contributions will be acknowledged on the Alliance web-site according to the  

  • Gold contributor - $1500 and over
  • Silver contributor $1000 to $1499
  • Bronze contributor $500 to $999
